Located in San Francisco de Macoris, the northeastern city with 200,000 inhabitants, the Universidad Catolica Nordestana, a private university, is announcing new degree courses and a strategic plan in tune with regional needs through 2020. The new courses are available for students who enroll this April for the new term starting in September. The new courses will be geomatics, land surveyors and interior design. New courses planned for the future include biomedical equipment technicians and obstetrics with an emphasis on giving birth.
The university is organizing student exchange programs with universities in North Carolina and Florida in the US, and Seville in Spain.
The announcement was made by university rector Father Alfredo de la Cruz Baldera, , during an interview with Listin Diario. He was accompanied by Monsignor Jesus Maria de Jesus Moya, bishop of San Francisco de Macoris, and Hector J. Rizek, president of the Fundacion Universitaria Catolica Nordestana.
