US visa renewals

If you hadn't noticed that your US visa had expired, there is good news. While in the past, US visa holders had a year to renew without having to file papers and sit for an interview, now the US State Department has simplified the procedure. US visas can be almost automatically renewed within four years of expiration date for people in the B1, B2 categories, which means this applies for tourists, business travelers, crew members and students. The new program is aimed at streamlining the visa renewal process. The caveat is that the US Consular officers may request an applicant to appear in person for interview at any time for any reason during the visa application process.

Last year, the US Embassy introduced online non-immigrant visa appointment system to facilitate the visa application process.
