Police arrested five individuals in Santiago yesterday Monday, 26 March and collected three unlicensed firearms. One was a pistol and the other two were home-made shotguns of the type called "chagons." The five, aged between 18 and 42, lived in different barrios of Santiago. Two of the men shared custody of an HK 2000 9mm pistol, serial number 116-030089, with seven shots in the clip. They were also carrying a 23" machete. They were arrested in a blue car after robbing Aristides Antonio Corona of RD$900. The Police are looking for one other person in connection with the robbery. In the meantime two men with these homemade shotguns were arrested next to a lottery kiosk in Cienfuegos, and a man identified as Porfirio Guzman Peralta was caught with inverter batteries that had been stolen from a mini-market in Monte Adentro.
