With President Leonel Fernandez in attendance, the Seaboard Transcontinental Capital Corporation has inaugurated "Estrella del Mar II", a natural gas generator that cost US$140 million to bring on-line. The unit, which will produce 104 megawatts, is located on the western shore of the Ozama River in Santo Domingo. According to Seaboard executives, this is the third generator that the company has installed in the country and this further investment was a positive reflection of the economic policies implemented by the government. One interesting feature of the new generator is the fact that it is fed by a 3km natural gas pipeline from the Los Mina Turbogas facility. Monsignor Benito Angeles blessed the new facility.
