The head of the National Drug Control Department (DNCD) said yesterday, Wednesday 28 March, that the voluntary guilty plea by drug trafficker Jose David Figueroa Agosto in a federal court in Puerto Rico will allow the opening of another chapter of the file in which he is implicated, as he was said to have trafficked thousands of kilos of cocaine over more than ten years. Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo said that the Dominican authorities, especially the DNCD and the Justice Department, are waiting for new information about the revelations made by the capo, whose nickname in Puerto Rico is Junior Capsula, while at the same time he said that "the investigations are not closed, which is to say that now some new elements could come up in this drug trafficking file."

"After the guilty plea they expect new information from the United States authorities in Puerto Rico, which we should receive through the Justice Department. We will wait for this report to appear in a timely manner in order to proceed against anyone implicated in the case that is still in the Dominican Republic," said the head of the anti-drug agency, when asked about the Figueroa Agosto case.
