Five minors between the ages of 13 and 15, including two Haitians, have confessed to the killing of seven-year old Randy Beltran de los Santos, in order to steal RD$300 pesos he had acquired begging at street lights and shining shoes. Listin Diario reports that the little boy's body was found on Tuesday morning, 27 March, in a vacant lot, under a piece of tin that was weighed down with a rock. The National Police spokesman, General Maximo Baez Aybar, said that the boy's father had received an anonymous tip telling them where the body could be found. After confessing, the minors told investigators from the Boys, Girls and Adolescent Court that after killing Randy with concrete blocks and stones, they carried the body to the vacant lot where they covered it with the piece of old roofing tin. They said that the motive for the killing was their envy for Randy's success in getting drivers to give him a little money. The Police also established that one of the Haitians had beaten up Beltran de los Santos and taken the RD$300 pesos. The Police have the father's cell phone and will establish the origin of the call that reported where the body was hidden.
