Last time down in sosua I picked up a phone to use and I still have it. Do i just go back to the claro place i got and just ask for more minutes or do i need a new simcard or a rented one (I read somewhere on here about someone returning the sim for deposit)?

I am kind of phone illiterate so i figured I'd ask. thanks for the help.

Depends on how long you have been away and your # has been inactive. Go by claro and check, they might be able to reactivate your SIM

if now, get another.

ahh i see said the blind man.

the sim card itself is deactivated after a certain amount of time. so if sim is active then i can just add minutes--if deactivated i need a new one. I was there this past october so i am going to assume deactivated.

If you've spent less than 60 days out of the country your sim card and old minutes are still good. You can get a Claro card anywhere and add minutes to keep your account active.

at 61 days your minutes are lost.

at 180 days your sim card gets purged from the database and you will need a new one and a new phone # will be assigned to you. It costs $100RD and you will get free minutes with the activation.

you've already got the phone so everything else is easy. I wouldn't bother renting.

Go to www.eztop.com (http://www.eztop.com) and add $5 in min to your phone. With Claro, even if it was inactive - it automatically re-activates it. This is assuming there is a sim card in it and you know the phone number.

I have had the same number since my first trip.

I add minutes about every 60 days. To keep it going.

There are other websites that you can use also.

Nakom, I still remember when we stopped in pop and got your number.

Here is another one that I use. www.eztopuponline.com (http://www.eztopuponline.com) $ 5.00 min and pay with pay pal. Works great.

Here's the one I use. Topped it off once last year. Twice since I've been there in November. Just added minutes yesterday. Will find out soon if there were any problems.

This is your best bet. I've set up a reminder on my phone for once a month to add $5 to my blackberry with Orange. I've have the same number for a while now and soon as I get off the plan my phone is working.

Can you bring me I-Phone daddy por fabor?

Seriously I really need to unlock my old blackberry or get an ATT phone. I'm getting tired of chicas having better phones than my 2 600 peso DR phones.
