The Dominican women's national team will battle for a slot at the London Olympics during the Norceca Women's Olympic Qualifier Tournament scheduled to be held in Tijuana, Mexico from 27 April to 6 May. Teams from Cuba, Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad and Tobago will be competing for the one berth remaining. DR coach Marcos Kwiek is confident about the DR's chances of making the Olympics. The DR finished eleventh in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, but failed to qualify to participate in the 2008 Beijing Games.
The DR men's team will compete from 4 to 13 May, with the participation of eight teams. The DR's men's team has never made it to the Olympics.
