New York Yankees' managing general partner Hal Streinbrenner, general manager Brian Cashman and Latin American vice president Felix Lopez were in the Dominican Republic recently to review advances on the remodeling and construction at the Yankees Baseball Academy. They were hosted by Joel Lithgow, director of the Academy, which is located north of Boca Chica beach. During his visit, Yankees executive director Hal Steinbrenner praised the contributions Dominicans Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Eduardo Nunez, Ivan Nova, Rafael Soriano and coach Tony Pena have made to the team. The newest Dominican Yankee is Michael Pineda.
This was Steinbrenner's first visit to the academy. The delegation was in the DR to see the facility and the progress of construction.
