With apologies to the Bard of Avon, an ambulance assigned to the Specialized Frontier Security Corps (Cesfront) was detained yesterday, Monday, 2 April, and the occupants, four illegal Haitians, the driver and his assistant, were arrested. The arrests were made at the military checkpoint in Jicome, Esperanza, in the northwest. The ambulance is said to have evaded a military checkpoint near Montecristi and was therefore stopped in Jicome. According to a report in El Nuevo Diario, the Fourth Brigade headquartered in Mao, Valverde said that the ambulance was being driven by two men who did not look like members of the military forces. They were arrested and a 9mm automatic gun they were carrying was seized by the authorities.
