The US research, strategy and media firm, Bendixen and Amandi International has presented the results of research carried out amongst 1,352 voters between 23 and 31 March, which placed PRD candidate Hipolito Mejia in first place with 51.4% of the votes ahead of Danilo Medina (PLD) with 39.7%. There was a margin of error of 1.7%.
The other candidates were Guillermo Moreno from the Alliance Party with 3% and Eduardo Estrella from Dominicans for Change with 0.8%. Julian Serulle and Max Puig both had 0.1%.
Company president Sergio Bendixen accused other companies such as Asisa, Gallup and Binder of presenting manipulated data and challenged the presidents of these companies to stand up to their findings after the elections on 20 May
The survey was carried out nationally and financed by the "180 degree Business Group", made up of young businesspeople who support Hipolito Mejia.
According to the research, Mejia would win in all areas: Cibao by 55 to 37%; east 53 to 39%; southeast 54 to 38% and in the capital by 45 to 44%.
