The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) said on Tuesday, 3 April that a second transmission tower was on the point of collapse as sixteen of its supports had been stolen.
Consequently ETED had to take the Hainamosa-Yamasa-Monte Plata transmission line out of service for six hours, leaving a number of areas without power.
The damage to the structure is part of a series of sabotage incidents that began last Friday, March 30 when another transmission tower also had to be taken down leaving 33 circuits in the northern area out of service. The cases are under investigation, as reported in El Dia.
