Good Friday is usually the most peaceful day of the year in Santo Domingo, when most of the population stays at home, or have already left for vacation time in the interior. Anyone staying in town should not miss the annual Good Friday concert by the choir of the Cathedral of Santo Domingo, the country's leading choir. The event is scheduled for 8pm on Friday, 6 April. This year it is dedicated to Alfredo Morales, the La Salle brother who was responsible for creating choral groups in the country. Vocalists in this year's concert include special guest tenor Enrique Pina, soloists Rafael Taveras, (soprano), Glenmer Perez (mezzosoprano), Modesto Acosta (tenor), Nelson Veras (tenor) and Iohann Sepulveda (bass).
The program includes "Sanctus do Requiem" mass by Berlioz for soloist, choir and orchestra and works by Handel, Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Faure and Bizet.
