4Am. Knock-Knock. It Rosie, “Crazy eyes” back from visiting her mother. She wakes me up to tell me that she needs 1000 pesos to pay a cab for bringing her back from her mother’s house. I tell her I have no pesos hoping that will get rid of her. She is unrelenting. I ask her what happened to the nearly 3000 pesos she had left with 4 hours earlier and she tells me she has given it to her mother. I tell her that she should have kept some for the ride back here. Besides, I has told her not to come back in the first place! I give her 10 US and tell her that’s all I have on me and close the door. Knock-knock! She’s back, telling me the driver says it’s not enough and I tell her that’s too bad! I close the door. Knock-knock! The third time is not the charm. I answer the door, peeved! She tells me the cab driver has pulled a gun on the guard and that I need to come down to straighten things out. Yeah, right! I sit in the room and watch porn for a few minutes waiting for the door knocking. Silence. I head down to see what’s happening. Dave the manager has been awoken to take care of the situation. He is not thrilled. He sends the Chica and the driver on their merry ways before asking me for the sordid details which I gladly provide. He asks if I told her to come back and I tell him that she told me she was going to visit her mom for mother’s day and to not come back. He tells the cab has picked her up from the casino at Playa Dorada. Maybe her Mom is a dealer! Anyway back to sleep for me.
11Am. Knock-Knock. I answer the door still asleep. Guess who? “What?”
“Please talk to David. Tell him no fire me! He say you no happy, Please make David no fire me. Come you talk to him!”
I tell her I need to get dressed first hoping that will get her off my back for a bit. I shower get ready and come down. She is at a table with the rest of her click of chicas all staring me down as I head for a breakfast table and order some food. One of the group approaches and makes a valiant effort for her friend. After I eat I head over to the Bar where I am all but surrounded by the chicas. I get up and tell them that I’ll talk with Dave and John. I walk into the office and ask if I can hide out for a few minutes, they say sure and ask why and I tell them. They are amused but less than thrilled. This is after all my fourth visit to BB’s in less than a year and they like to keep their semi regulars somewhat at ease. Did I mention I haven’t been here 24 hours yet?!
I exit the office and tell the chicas that I have tried my best and take a seat at the bar. That’s when the world ends! I notice the sign canceling the bikini contest on Saturday. I always plan my trips around the Bikini contest and to say the least was dismayed by it’s cancellation and the subsequent cancellation of the hot tub happy hour that follows, For those who have been there for it know what I mean!
