The currency gained as much as 0.7 percent and traded 0.2 percent stronger at 7.82 per dollar at 4:37 pm in Johannesburg, paring this week's loss to 1.9 percent. Yields on South Africa's 8.25 percent bonds due 2017 were unchanged at 7.397 percent.
