So the other night sitting in Passions, JoeySterr to one side and TNT72 on the other I was explaining to the guys what Semana Santa in Cabarete was like. Up to 20,000 on the beach partying like no other place in the DR at least half of them chicas very few of whom you will ever see on the skank strip of Sosua. Sterrman's eyes got wider and wider, his smile got broader and broader until he exclaimed 'I gotta do this, I'm extending my trip!!!!':iconTU::iconTU::iconTU:

Traffic in Cabarete is a nightmare at the best of times. During Semana Santa it can take an hour each way to get through town. So if you come to Cabarete by car, either your own or a cab. Park or get out where you first see cars parked and walk the rest of the way as there will be no parking available nearer the town center. You'll be just jammed up with Dominicans 2 cars abreast going both ways on a street that only has room for 1 car to pass.:rofl:

So, how long does it take to clean up all the garbage after the party is over?

I'm thinking the beach should be clear again by the middle of May... :lol:

So the count as of yesterday was 9 sound-stages being constructed. All more or less next to each other and the food stands aren't in place yet. 1 more sound stage than last year I think. These are some of the artists playing.

Bearing in mind that most Dominicans pitch up with coolers full of Grey Goose and Johnny Walker, bars can only sell beer in cans and plastic cups outside of their bars so the trash left over each day is huge. Each bar spends up to US$15,000 on their sound stages and I think they each have to have a team of clean-up staff as part of their licence.

Agreed! Did it when I was 19. Promised myself never to do it again. It's great to do it once and that's more than enough for a lifetime. Same with the La Vega Carnival.

Funny how diffrent we all are, but yet , the same! Ive been to cabarette during samana santa and la vega carnival. I wish i could do both every year!

It's my problem. I don't do well in large, tight crowds. I feel like I'm not in control, have few exit options and it freaks me out.

I've never been, but get to this weekend. Looking forward to it. Like a lot of guys, I don't do well with crowds, but I like to expierence new things. I've done New Years Eve in NYC, and I'm doing Semana Santa in Cabarette.

Yeah I have to agree I feel safer driving in Sosua and other towns but cabarete really sucks even during the week, I almost got into 2 accidents while driving tru there.

I know this sounds crazy and hard to believe, but i thought there were too many bitches. And i'm not sure how to explain myself. Maybe "pleasantly overwhelmed" is a good discription.

I found myself a little disappointed on the plane ride home when i looked at my journal and found that i only had time to fuck 6 bitches out of the 23 phone numbers that i got from visiting chicas from all over the island.

for instance...

1. if you fall, the other bodies tend to hold you up without even trying.

2. the extra bodies provide a cushion of insulation between you and the nearest poles.

3. in the unlikelihood that you split your head open, you can bleed on their shirts instead of your own.
