The Fernandez government has entrusted a team of Santiago women with the responsibility of administering justice in the capital city and province of Santo Domingo. On Tuesday, 3 April, just before the country went for its annual Easter Week vacation period, lawyer Olga Dolores Dina Llaverias was sworn in as prosecutor for the Province of Santo Domingo. She joins Yeni Berenice Reynoso, recently appointed chief prosecutor for the National District (Santo Domingo city). Olga Dina Llaverias replaces assistant prosecutor Perfecto Acosta, appointed Commissioner for Justice Reform. Yeni Berenice Reynoso was recently appointed to replace Alejandro Moscoso Segarra who was elected judge of the Supreme Court.
Olga Dolores Dina Llaverias was sworn in by assistant general prosecutor, Moises Ferrera. She won a contest nationwide in which seven other women were chosen for a total of 15 posts available.
The new prosecutors are:
Diomerys Soto Valdez, San Cristobal
Ingreid Pamela Rijo, San Pedro de Macoris
Carmen Danys Minaya Moreaux, Dajabon
Alba Nunez Picahrdo, Puerto Plata
Martha Gonzalez Rodriguez, Santiago Rodriguez
Sonnia del Carmen Espejo Rodriguez, Valverde
Yoanna Ysabel Bejaran Alvarez, Montecristi
Robert Francis Justo Bobadilla, Samana
Salvador Bello, Independencia
Jose Anibal Carela, Espaillat
Cosntantino Ramon Beltre Sanchez, Peravia.
There are 35 prosecutors' offices nationwide, now directed by 14 women.
The election was organized by the Consejo Superior del Ministerio Publico (CSMP) headed by prosecutor general Radhames Jimenez. Other members are Moises Ferrera, prosecutor of the Court of Appeals of La Vega, Victor Gonzalez, La Altagracia prosecutor Lucas Evangelista Perez and La Romana prosecutor Kelvin Santana.
