In his Resurrection Sunday mass, Cardinal Nicolas Lopez Rodriguez called for an end to the murders of women that have been occurring nationwide and asked for God to have pity on the Dominican people, as reported in Listin Diario. He expressed his concern for the quality of life of people whose disabilities prevent them from working. He spoke at the Easter Mass at the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
"Jesus Christ is the witness of life and I would like to celebrate life and ask the Lord for Life. That he should have pity on our people and above all, that you know that a shocking number of women have been murdered. I would like to ask Jesus Christ, Lord of Life, Resurrected, to have pity on all the persons who have been vulgarly, so cowardly and perversely killed," he said.
