A pilot working for Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman, the chief of the Sinaloa drug ring and No. 1 fugitive from justice in the US, has reportedly been captured in the Dominican Republic, according to a report in Listin Diario.
The operation is said to have taken place at a Santo Domingo hotel, where two Mexicans were arrested by DEA, including the pilot. Their last names were reported as Chavez Ramirez and Alvarado Torres, but the pilot was not named. A third accomplice, a Colombian, is on the run.
As reported, the agents suspected that El Chapo himself was planning to travel to the DR and prepared to catch him. Both Mexicans were deported to the US where arrest warrants have been issued against them. El Chapo is considered to be among the world's 100 wealthiest men.
