Bullish on export free zones

Jose Manuel Torres, vice president of the Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona) says that the sector had a good year in 2011. He said exports reached US$4.84 billion, a record year for export free zones. He said the trend for 2012 is again positive. Torres said that the year closed with 125,000 direct jobs in free zones and another 350,000 indirect jobs. He estimates that around half a million Dominicans depend on free zone work, as reported in Diario Libre.
