Telecommunications company Claro says the security levels of their network are guaranteed and said that in the case of any attempt to alter the election results, it would be detected and verified with the original voting acts.

Diario Libre was quoting Claro president, Oscar Pena who made this pledge while hosting a visit by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) Plenary to the Claro Network Operations Center.

Although he stressed the high levels of security of his network, he admitted that no network system in the world is 100% safe, citing the examples of hackers who got into the NASA and Pentagon networks.

Pena chose not to discuss details of the encryption system used for security reasons and because this information belongs to the JCE. He stressed that Claro has taken part in eight elections, as the supplier of 90% of the 3G cards. This time they will supply over 7,000 cell phones and a thousand 3G cards.

Meanwhile, JCE president Roberto Rosario said that they were very satisfied with the security measures being adopted, and revealed that they have already defined their contingency plans.
