The Guibia Surf City Festival, organized by the Dominican Surfing Federation, will be held in Santo Domingo on 14 and 15 April.
Guibia Beach is one of the first beaches in the Dominican Republic where modern surfing was introduced in the 1960s. The event celebrates the restoration of the area, beach and plaza by the National District City Council of the city of Santo Domingo, which has reopened after five years.
The tournament will include surfers from all around the country in the categories of Surf, Longboard and Bodyboard, as they compete for their place in the national ranking of the circuit for the 2012 season.
The Guibia Surf City Festival has been organized with the support of the Sport and Recreation Ministry, the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster and the Santo Domingo Surfing and Bodyboarding Associations.
