The story of national hero Colonel Rafael Tomas Fernandez Dominguez is being presented at the Governor's Office in La Romana until 11 May. He is remembered for his efforts to restore the constitutional government of then President Juan Bosch, who was overthrown in 1963. The exhibition is being organized by the Association of Private Schools in La Romana, the Altos de Chavon Regional Archaeological Museum and the Provincial Government of La Romana with material lent by the Colonel Rafael Tomas Fernandez Dominguez Foundation. A book and DVD have been prepared to accompany the exhibition, "Vida y legado del Coronel Fernandez Dominguez: Soldado del Pueblo y Militar de la Libertad." The exhibition is open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday at the Gobernacion Provincial, on Teniente Amado Garcia street at the intersection with Bienvenido Creales in La Romana.
