A specialist at the Centro Medico Cibao reported today, Thursday 19 April that 10 people with chronic diarrhea symptoms who are being treated at the clinic have tested positive for cholera, including a woman from Tamboril who passed away.
Dr. Milciades Cruz told Hoy reporter Wellington Cruz that as well as the elderly woman, two other patients are seriously ill and in Intensive Care. The doctor said that although the deceased woman was a diabetic, the cause of death was kidney failure due to dehydration caused by cholera. The health authorities say that they have six positive tests of the 160 subjects tested.
