The Chief of Police, Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez, pledged yesterday morning Wednesday 18 April that investigations into recent violent events in the capital and Santo Domingo West are moving ahead and that he hopes to provide satisfactory responses to each of these cases. Major General Polanco Gomez was referring to the violent deaths of Taiwanese diplomat Julio Ou and engineer Guillermo Antonio Turull Duluc, as well as National Army Private Marcelino Gomera Paredes.

Referring to the cases of the Taiwanese diplomat and engineer Turull Duluc, the police chief told Diario Libre reporters that several meeting have been held with the officers in charge of both cases. In the case of the Private, Gomera Paredes, who was killed Tuesday afternoon, 17 April by several men, so far unknown, while on his scooter in the La Cuaba sector of Los Alcarrizos, he said that ballistic tests were being conducted in order to identify with precision possible people involved, adding that investigations were progressing well.
