It won't work here and could easily lead to the company's bankruptcy.
If they actually trust the deal they made for the DR and commit moneys and resources, believing it's going to happen, they're in for a surprise.
Most Dominicans believe that it is a God given right to have free electricity.

I like the idea better of supplying 24/7 electricity to those who pay.
There are 4-5 residencial areas in SD now that enjoy full time electricity, and another 14 or so areas will be hooked up to the full time grid very soon. ( I won't even mention the east coast, which pretty much enjoys 24/7 electricity)
The area I live in has requested the hookup too. Mostly military and ball players, surrounded by solid middle class.
I'm hoping it will be in the next month or so. I may still spring for a 9.5 kilo genset for 3K US. One storm, and it will pay for itself.
