Pension funds at RD$161 billion

As of February 2012 Dominican pension funds were at RD$161 billion, up RD$35 billion from last year, when the total was RD$125.2 billion. In the first year, 2003, the Pension Fund was RD$4.6 billion. The Superintendence of Pensions (Sipen) says that as of February 2012, there are 2,576,299 affiliates. In the past year 171,920 new affiliates were registered. In September 2003, the number of affiliates was 570,119. Nine years later, this has more than doubled, to 1,242,050.
