The PLD has backed a request by the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Roberto Rosario, for the Plenary of the Board to amend the resolution that authorizes the simultaneous transmission of elections results to political parties and the media. The PLD argues that anything that might strain he election process should be avoided.

Yesterday a commission from the PLD Political Committee and Campaign Command visited the JCE headquarters and delivered a letter in which they laid out their petition. The commission was made up of Cesar Pina Toribio, Reinaldo Pared Perez, Franklin Almeyda Rancier, Temistocles Montas, Danilo Diaz and Fernando Fernandez. "Your recent statements (by Roberto Rosario) that have led to widespread concern according to what we have received from different sources, commentaries and editorials in the press, make a revision of the initial decision obligatory, to the effect that the transmissions referred to are surrounded by the maximum security to safeguard their authenticity," says the letter signed by Pina Toribio.

In the letter quoted by Diario Libre, the PLD argues that PRD presidential candidate Hipolito Mejia had already suggested to the JCE president that "the simultaneous information of the acts should be restricted to those who should receive them for institutional reasons and because of their direct responsibility and involvement in the election process."
