The Election Observers Mission currently in the country says that the next elections will be transparent and will constitute a point of reference for the rest of the countries in Latin American. Tabare Vasquez, mission chief and former president of Uruguay expressed his satisfaction at the reports received by the OAS technicians and specialists who are working in the country. Tabare Vasquez, Pablo Gutierrez, the director of Election Observation and Cooperation at the OAS and other members of the mission met with the Plenary of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) yesterday, Wednesday 15 April. Vasquez came to install the mission although he made it clear that his job began some time ago. He has plans for 11 interviews, including President Fernandez and the presidential candidates.

Gutierrez revealed that the election observation mission covers the regulation limiting and controlling campaign expenses and the use, ceiling and origin of the resources. It also includes the verification of the structure and functioning of the campaign financing.
