The UK currency rose 0.1 percent to $1.6285 at 8:35 am London time after climbing to $1.6297, the highest since Aug. 31. The pound appreciated 0.2 percent to 81.35 pence per euro. It reached 81.30 pence, the strongest since June 30, 2010.
