The Dominican Republic will cover parts of the cost of the funeral services for the Nunez Martinez family tragedy in the Bronx. El Caribe reports that contributions will come from the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the Dominican Consulate in New York, the Superintendence of Banks and the Presidency. As reported, the bodies of grandparents Ana Julia Martinez and Jacobo Nunez, who had been visiting their children in New York when the tragic car accident occurred, will arrive on Saturday for burial in their hometown in Dajabon province. In New York, the press reported that the cost of the children's burial would be covered by their school.

Seven people including three children were killed on Sunday, when a Honda Pilot struck the center median of the Bronx River Parkway, crossed over three southbound lanes, struck the curb and then went airborne crashing 59 feet below into a wooded area of the Bronx Zoo.

The victims were Maria Gonzalez, 45, the driver of the SUV; her daughter, Jocelyn Gonzalez, 10; her sister, Maria Nunez, 39; Nunez's daughters Niely Rosario, 7, and Marly Rosario, 3; and the sisters' parents Jacob Nunez, 85, and Ana Julia Martinez, 81. The grandparents had just arrived three days earlier.
