McCann-Erickson executives are out on the streets looking at what Dominicans are eating, both in quantity and in quality, when they don't have time to waste. The 20 questions are being asked at food stalls on the streets of Santo Domingo. The interviews are being videotaped and the evidence as to where the food is purchased and eaten, what is eaten and how it tastes are being filmed. The survey covers Greater Santo Domingo and is centered in the Zona Universitaria and Gazcue, the Zona Oriental, Cristo Rey, the Poligono Central (Naco-Piantini), Luperon Avenue and Herrera.

A similar study is being carried out simultaneously all over Latin America, according to McCann Erickson CEO Giancarlo Marucci. The advertising executive said that this type of survey was different from the normal, air-conditioned consumer interviews. He said that they were trying to "search for realities."

According to Diario Libre, the study has revealed some of the tastes among consumers and the people who provide a lot of the food sold on the streets. He said: "For example, people believe that if they eat rice, beans and meat on the street they are not eating 'fast food' because it is the typical meal." Also interesting is the fact that the street vendors have but one aim: that nobody should go without eating. "If the plate costs 50 pesos and the customer only has 30 pesos, he will serve him a 30 peso plate. This does not happen in other places."
