The book "Oceans of ink and paper", written by Miguel Reyes Sanchez, has won the Leon Jimenes National Book Fair Prize 2012.

The annual prize awarded by the Leon Jimenes Group was presented in the Culture Salon of the National Theater and is now part of the National Book Fair. It is considered the leading event in the Dominican literary calendar. The decision was revealed by a jury of well-known intellectuals Jeannette Miller, Adriano Miguel Tejada and Jose Marmol, who stressed the quality of the book.

Reyes Sanchez accepted the prize, which comes with a check for RD$450,000, from the hands of Stella Leon, the vice-president for corporate affairs of the Leon Jimenes Group, who talked about the importance of this award for Dominican bibliography, for local writers and for the company. "The Leon Jimenes Group is honored to recognize and project talent, creativity and the sensitivity of our Dominican writers with this prize, a well deserved reward and a stimulus for men and women who portray memorable chapters in Dominican history or bring figures and their own experiences to life thanks to their inventiveness," said Leon. The author, visibly moved, expressed his satisfaction at taking away such an important award, and thanked everyone for their support.

The 367-page book, which is divided into four chapters, is a piece of historical research into Dominican navigation and maritime development, portraying the evolution of the relationship between humans and the sea in great detail and with great authority.
