South Africa's currency depreciated as much as 0.8 percent to 7.8914, the weakest since April 17, and traded at 7.8339 by 9:44 am in Johannesburg. The yield on the nation's 13.5 percent bonds due 2015 rose one basis point to 6.395 percent.
