The Ministry of Tourism has announced Resolution 9/2012 of the Department of Planning (DPP) that approves the application of Decree 847-09 of 14 November 2010 on the Land Use Plan for Cabarete Municipality. The ruling establishes guidelines for height and density of construction in the beach town.
As reported by the Presidency, the plan gives priority to regulating construction in the area to promote tourism development while at the same time regulating, controlling and monitoring issues such as the upgrading of the urban environment, diversification of supply and tourism products, and protection of the natural landscape. The plan encompasses the area between Cabarete Beach with the Atlantic Ocean to the north, the Choco road to the south, Sabaneta de Yasica to the east, and the Municipality of Sosua, comprising the sections of Catalina and La Goleta, to the west.
