With just over a week to go before the 20 May presidential election, 12 foreign ambassadors in the Dominican Republic held a meeting with President Leonel Fernandez yesterday, Tuesday 8 May to discuss the economic situation in Latin America and the Caribbean, the polls and the upcoming election. The ambassadors said they share with the President the desire for transparency in the elections and a strengthening of the democracy in the country.
The meeting, which lasted nearly an hour, included ambassadors from the United States, Canada, the European Union, Brazil, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Colombia and France.
