According to the sixth poll carried out by polling firm Insight, if the elections were held today, ruling PLD Presidential candidate Danilo Medina would obtain 52.4% of the vote, while former President Hipolito Mejia of the PRD would get 43.3%.
Guillermo Moreno of the Alliance Party would obtain 1.8%, Eduardo Estrella from Dominicans for Change would have 1.1%, and the other candidates, Max Puig, Democratic Alliance, and Julian Serulle, Popular Front, 0.4%.
Presenting the findings, Insight's Jose Luis Rojo said that 73.5% thought that the winner would be decided in the first round and 55.1% thought that Medina would ensure better economic stability as compared to 42.4% for Mejia. He said that there would be one last poll before the elections.
The poll was carried out between 29 April and 3 May amongst 1200 people nationally with a margin of error of 2.9%, as reported in Listin Diario.
