Following an enthusiastic reception from Dominican audiences, the National Ballet will again dance Pop at the Bellas Artes auditorium on Sunday, 13 May at 8:30pm. The performance consists of leading Dominican classical dancers moving to legendary pop hits. The show was choreographed by Isadora Bruno and Carlos Veitia and each act was performed to rapturous applause from audiences during the recent Santo Domingo Book Fair. Marinella Sallent, director of the National Ballet, said this is an opportunity to bring dance to a wider public. Isadora Bruno describes the show as a synergy between two very separate cultures and says that it demonstrates that classical dancers can also perform urban moves. Pop has 25 dancers on stage to the music of Juan Luis Guerra, Beyonce, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Adele, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, with performances of classic, jazz, and hip hop. Tickets are RD$300.
