Was told last night by the organisers that Lauren Hill, ex-Fugees is also performing at the Dreamin Live gig on Cabarete beach this coming Saturday night, and best of all it's free.:iconTU:

I dunno.... it just seems to me that her style would be kind of out of place compared to the other featured artists.. but, ya never know...

I would have been all over this about ten years ago. But that was before she lost her GOTDAMN mind, and decided that she didn't have to start her concerts on time. And that she didn't have to perform the songs that the audience wants to hear.

I gotta tell ya. Lauren Hill tickets in DC aint cheap. Especially when you're on a date, and paying for two. And then this ho decides that she doesn't want to perform any songs from the "Miseducation" album. Hell, those are the only songs I wanna hear. I don't wanna hear you play depressing songs on your guitar. I've studied the guitar enough to know that she's not a guitarist. Far from it.

I'd be hard pressed to pay for another Lauren Hill concert.

No Worries

I absolutely loved her debut album, its one of my favorite abums of all time, however, she is always 2-4 hours late for her concerts! Thats a slam that I have heard so many times about her that it will make me NEVER buy a ticket to see her perform!

I wouldn't hold my breath. She's on par with Sly Stone and Axl Rose when it comes to showing up. And if she does show, you will be waiting HOURS!!!

If that's the case she fits in well with the other prima donnas in the DR Bachata scene. I've never been to a live show in the Dr that wasn't at least two hrs late. Namely, Antony Santos, Frank Reyes, and Zacarria. I swore I'd never do it again but I've said that about some other things as well!!

They're not 2 hours late, you're 2 hours early! The late performances are done on purpose to keep the people in the club until the end. After the artist performs, everyone leaves. No club owner wants an empty club at 1am. The club owner advertises the artists going on at 11pm, but the actual agreement is for the artist to start performing at 2am the earliest. The artists perform at the time that the club owner wants them to perform.

I hear ya but Lauryn Hill's reputation for tardiness is irrelevant to this charity event.

She is in town, with her family, on Thursday she gave an impromptu session for the kids at the Dream Project after Gales and Wimbash jammed for a while with my mates guitar class.

Last night she also performed a bit at the Sea Horse Ranch event.

So tonight I expect an 'open jam session' and not just a set of her hits, and even if she's a little late I'll still be on the beach in Cabarete, no doubt with sufficient other attractions to keep me occupied.:iconTU:

I was going to say she looked hot, and I loved her hair, until I noticed she was the undressed bum in the from with the baseball hat.

So... her back up singer is hot, and I loved her hair. I'll take her. You can have the bum.

The whole show was delayed a couple of hours but started at around 9.30.

1st on local Cabarete band Culture Shock performed a good set, Gales and Wimbash were awesome playing everything from reggae to rock to Hendrix, in between the artists DJ Rampage kept the large crowd going.

Lauryn Hill came on around 1am performed a number of her hits. The crowd loved it but for me......meh!!!!!

All in all a great show for Cabarete...and for free.......kudos to the organisers. They'll be back next year too.:iconTU::iconTU::iconTU:

From hearing her talk about it, she didn't want to bounce back to the limelight. She basically pulled a Dave Chapelle before Chapelle did. She saw the way the fame/hype machine worked and decided to opt-out of the system.

Not too sure about that UR. The guy that organised her appearance told me that she demanded top notch all expenses paid accommodation for herself and her entourage of FOURTEEN!!!!!!!

She only agreed to come last Wednesday after he put them up in 3 penthouse suites in this place:

Whilst he was pleased she came he was a bit pissed off that her late agreement left him no time to promote her presence at the event.

Gales and Wimbash on the other hand had way lower demands, although apparently Gales has been going through 3-4 chicas a day at his penthouse suite at Velero.:iconTU::iconTU::iconTU:

The 'back -up singer' was this young lady:

I don't want the bum and I don't mind taking her second....always appreciate a good warm-up act.
