President Leonel Fernandez was in the northeast yesterday, Wednesday, 9 May, to inaugurate four roads, a bridge, three schools and an agricultural center. The works are valued at RD$1.2 billion. The government said it had spent RD$1.03 billion on the highways in Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris) province, and RD$136 million on the agricultural center in Nagua, Maria Trinidad Sanchez province. The government also inaugurated public schools in Duarte province worth RD$58 million.
The Ministry of Public Works lists the new roads as El Aguacate-El Cercado, La Paja-El Guineal, San Francisco de Macoris-Jaya-La Colonia, Tramo II-Ramales Lona de Jaya-La Malena and the bridge over the Jaya River.
