The Ministry of Foreign Relations has installed several security devices to improve the process of using apostilles for official documents. Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso said that a verification code has been added to the document that has received the apostille. This arrangement will enhance the reliability of the documents.
Morales said that over the last three years the Ministry has applied the apostille on more than 700,000 documents. The Dominican Republic joined the Apostille Movement from The Hague in 2009.
