After marching from Parque Independencia to the Presidential Palace, a group of sugarcane workers received the news that the government would soon be giving pensions to 2,280 of them. Vice President Rafael Alburquerque said that the government would disburse RD$10 million per month for these pensions. Meanwhile, the sugarcane workers' spokesman, Jesus Nunez, told Diario Libre that he was satisfied and that they told him that they are only waiting for President Leonel Fernandez to sign the decree authorizing the pensions.
