The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) reports that the inflation rate for April was 0.01% according to the Consumer Price Index. According to the BCRD the accumulated inflation rate for the first quarter of the year was 0.95%, while the year-to-year rate was set at 4.04%. The latest report from the Central Bank shows a slowdown of the growth rate of the local prices and places the Dominican Republic in a favorable position to fulfill the goals on inflation as set out in the BCRD Monetary Program.

This program is a strategy of monetary policy that establishes goals for inflation over a given period of time and according to the program for 2012 the goal is 5.5% (+/- 1%).
