View Full Version : "It's the economy" weighs most for Dominicans

A recent Penn, Schoen & Berland poll contracted by Grupo SIN reveals that for most Dominicans the leading problems are inflation and the rising cost of living (26%), crime (26%) and unemployment (24%). Five percent of Dominicans ranked government corruption as the main problem, 4% mentioned deficiencies in the educational system and 2% pointed to drugs. When asked if in general they believed the economy was going in the right direction, 68% of voters said it was headed in the wrong direction, while 30% said in the correct direction. But when asked for their satisfaction with the present government, 51% said they were unsatisfied and 49% said they were satisfied.
