The Dominican Professional Winter Baseball Championship starts on Sunday, 14 October 2012 with games at the ballparks in Santo Domingo, San Pedro and San Francisco de Macoris. The championship inaugural game is at 5pm at the Santo Domingo Quisqueya Stadium with the national champions, the Leones del Escogido, going against the Tigres del Licey.
On that same day, Los Toros del Este will battle the Estrellas Orientales in San Pedro de Macoris and the Aguilas Cibaenas will be in San Francisco to match the Gigantes del Cibao.
There will be 150 games in the regular season that will end Friday, 21 December. The round robin phase starts on Wednesday, 26 December.
