Two low-pressure troughs will bring more rain and thunderstorms, according to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet). One of the troughs is over Puerto Rico and moving west and the other is over the island of Hispaniola. According to Hoy, the respite from the rain lasted only a short time. Rains are expected today, Thursday, 10 May, in the northeast, southeast and southwest, in the center of the country, in the Central Mountains and along the border.
Last night the rains in Villa Mella, Puerto Plata and the area around Cabrera and Rio San Juan caused local watercourses to overflow. Some communities in Tamboril had already been cut off by the flooding. Onamet is forecasting rains for the next 72 hours.
