Yesterday, Thursday 10 May President Leonel Fernandez inaugurated the second stage of an aqueduct construction project in Nagua in Maria Trinidad Sanchez province, which was built at a cost of over RD$376 million.

When completed, the aqueduct will provide water to 15 areas in Nagua and 32 rural communities.

Fernandez was in the northeastern province to inaugurate RD$973 million worth of public works, the Presidency reported. The projects include the second phase of the Nagua aqueduct, a police station, and the paving of streets in four Nagua neighborhoods.

The President then traveled on to Cabrera where he swore in a group of young PRSC members, whose party is closely allied with the PLD. The group, calling itself "the grandchildren of Balaguer" was sworn in at the Avalon Bar, a discotheque. Hoy newspaper reports that the unusual place chosen for the event generated many comments.

The President's visit was tailed by PLD supporters campaigning for their party's presidential and vice presidential candidates Danilo Medina and First Lady Margarita Cedeno.
