Never before have so many electoral polls been carried out in the Dominican Republic. This even includes one carried out by the Datacredito, the leading credit bureau. As reported in Listin Diario, the Superintendence of Banks ordered the entity to desist from carrying out any poll. The Superintendence said that the law that regulates credit bureaus prohibits the company from the activity. Datacredito has a major database with details on all Dominicans who have at some moment used banking credit of any kind.

A paid advertisement in Listin Diario on Monday 14 May, published by lawyer Vinicio Castillo Seman, points out that the president of Datacredito, Porfirio Lopez Nieto is also the head of information technology for the PPH group, supporters of PRD presidential candidate Hipolito Mejia. The group recently installed a state-of-the-art computer center to be used on 20 May 2012. The publication highlights that Lopez Nieto held meetings with Jose Agustin Lopez Nieto and Kelyn Francisco Pena Victoria, information technology managers at the JCE, and with Janio Martinez Bencosme, a hi-tech supplier to Claro-Codetel and the JCE for which the latter two were administratively and formally reprimanded by the JCE.
