With just a week to go before the election, the price of propane has dropped by RD$3.40. Dominicans have been enjoying some respite from the constant rise in fuel prices, at least during the weeks leading up to the elections. Fuel prices have remained unchanged for several weeks, but on Friday, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce even announced a RD$3.40 reduction on the price of propane gas, the most commonly used fuel for public transport and cooking in the DR. The cost of a gallon of propane is now RD$100. Other fuel prices are RD$229.90 per gallon of premium gasoline, RD$213.80 regular gasoline, RD$206.00 premium diesel and RD$199.40 regular diesel. Avtur costs RD$163.10 per gallon. Natural gas costs RD$25 per cubic meter. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce says that prices have remained the same as a reflection of international market prices.
