The senator for the province of Espaillat, Jose Rafael Vargas, says that as part of the celebrations for the Day of the Farmer, 15 May, President Leonel Fernandez would deliver some RD$100,000,000 to egg, poultry and other farm producers in the province of Espaillat (Moca).
Each year, the farm sector of Espaillat province gets together on the Day of Saint Isidro the Plowman, or the Day of the Farmers, and with various activities the important date is celebrated to honor the nation's farmers and producers. Farmers and egg and poultry producers have been negotiating the payment of this debt through Senator Vargas and at last they are beginning to start payment on it.
Diario Libre quotes the legislator as saying that he has been on top of these negotiations with the aim of protecting the basic farm sector in the province of Espaillat. He said that thanks to the administration of President Leonel Fernandez, the process of consolidation and profitability of the basic sector of the economy of his province would go forward. President Fernandez will meet with the farm producers in the Pro-a-Uni Hall, located on Ramon Caceres Avenue, starting at 2pm today, Tuesday 15 May, where he will make a formal delivery of the RD$100 million to the farm producers of Espaillat province, announced Senator Jose Rafael Vargas in a press release.
